I have found it difficult to take a few minutes each day to play for myself. Show nights are easy. Big audience, lights, money, a lot of fun and SCHEDULED. That is the issue I guess, scheduling time for the pure enjoyment of playing. It sounds easy but is far from it. Don't lie to yourself and say "I play all the time", 'cause I know you are kidding us both. We should all take time (let's call March, play for myself month) and learn a new song, technique or lick that we have all practiced on the steering wheel in the car! Yes, I am guilty of "steering wheel guitar", don't laugh, I have seen many of you doing the same:)

Getting Back to Business

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4retjqsH6dY/Rqn7GA3zxgI/AAAAAAAAACk/-TjiQVJ8Iy0/s320/musik39.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5091876934450923010" />
I hope all is well. This summer has been busy for all including myself. Let's talk timing. I am an avid beliver in practicing with the use of a metronome. By taking note of what speed you are playing scales for example each week, you can clearly see if you are improving, or if you need to practice a few more minutes each time. Don't just think you are getting faster and more accurate, document your beats per minute for the next 2 weeks and you might just surprise yourself. I hope the rest of your summer is great and full of music!

Waiting on Monday

For those of you who may not know, my CD "Waiting on Monday" is available for purchase.
